Ten Commandments versus the “law of Moses”

Understanding the difference is important for Christians

There is much confusion among Christians, especially those who have paid scant attention to the study of the Old Testament scriptures, concerning the Torah -- the first five books of the Old Testament canon -- Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

To help us understand the part that the Old Testament scriptures should play in our lives today, here is my understanding of the difference in and the meaning of the 10 Commandments and the “Law of Moses”.
